Vasco da Gama is the newest ship to join the Cruise & Maritime Voyages fleet, more recently known as the much-loved P&O Pacific Eden. So it’s no surprise that Vasco da Gama cruises will be replacing those offered by Astor as Cruise & Maritime Voyages‘ local Australian offering.

The name was picked from a shortlist four after a public vote than included members of the Columbus Club, 's passenger loyalty scheme., CMV announced the line had acquired, bringing its fleet size to six. Vasco da Gama is expected to be adults-only, with 40 single cabins added for solo travellers. Christian Verhounig, CEO and chairman of CMV said: 'We are grateful to all those Columbus Club members and trade partners who took the time and trouble to vote.
From the thousands received, the winner is Vasco da Gama with 46 percent of the total vote.' Vasco da Gama will serve the German and Australasian cruise markets. From May to October it will operate under CMV's German brand, TransOcean Kreuzfahrten, homeporting from both Bremerhaven and Kiel.
During the Australian summer season, from December to March, it will sail from Fremantle (Perth) and Adelaide, offering a more traditional scenic cruise experience. The maiden voyage will depart from Singapore on 24 April, 2019, on a 46-night itinerary visiting South East Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Egypt, Jordan, a Suez Canal transit, Israel, the Mediterranean, U.K., Netherlands and Germany, ending in Bremerhaven. This includes a three-decked central Atrium with a fine selection of retail outlets, a Dome Observatory and Nightclub providing wonderful seascapes and scenic panoramas, 149 Balcony Cabins with 80% of Cabins having an ocean view, two outdoor swimming pools with the main pool having an all-weather retractable roof and six dining options including five fine dining options.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages acquired Pacific Eden from P&O Australia and has been named after the famous Portuguese explorer and navigator. All these twin/double cabins offer private en-suite facilities with bath and shower over (4010, 4011, 4014, 4015, 5006 and 5007 have shower only) plus ample hanging and storage space. Cabins 4006, 4007, 4022 and 4023 provide accommodation for a third and/or fourth occupant. Cabins 4101, 4011, 4014 and 4015 are equipped for passengers with specific mobility limitations and their companions.
